A is for April AND it’s for Amy

I like to joke that my awesome friend Amy only ever makes the long trek from the south to visit in months that begin with the letter A.  She made her first trip up back in August and on Friday, she landed on my doorstep once again.  I haven’t seen her since she was here last so we got immediately to the good stuff: catching up over a few pints at the pub down the road.  Later on, we decided we were in dire need of some sustenance so we ushered her off to one of my favorite restaurants, also the scene of my birthday lunch, Anducci’s.

After filling our gullets with pasta, we returned to the apartment and chilled for only a few minutes before the proverbial hay was hit hard.

It was while I was laying there in bed that I realized how cool it is that Amy and I are friends.  Despite the fact that we have virtually no friends in common and and a border and an entire state and a half separating us, we still just really click.  Maybe it’s the fantastic wit we have in common that does the trick.  I just can’t believe how a question as simple as "So, how was the red?" could spawn such a great friendship. And they say there’s no such thing as fate…

A sample conversation taken from on ride home on Saturday night:

QueenieCarly: So, I guess we took like six pictures on this trip?
Amy: I only took one.
QC: Was I in it?
A: Is jesus dead?  Yeah.

Any question why I love her?

Is Jesus dead? I love it. I may have to start using that one.

I wish we could keep our good friends closer than a state and a half away. Geography always seems to be an enemy. But, I’m glad you make it work. Friends like that are a rare find.

Sounds like you two had a blast!!!

It’s great that she could come and visit you 🙂

It’s only been two months & I’m starting to get the travel bug again. Maybe the great land of Canada should be next on my list… Posts like this really get me restless.

Might I say…that is a horrible picture of me. I have better ones…I am so much hotter than that.

  6. QueenieCarly Says:

It is not a horrible picture of you by any means, but it does look like you’re a bit of a giant. In saying that, I don’t mean that you’re big, it just looks like my apartment is miniature world or something.

Come on up, Sarah! I so hear ya about the travel bug. Seriously.

Erin & Battlerocker: I am fully aware of how lucky I am to have found this friendship. While it sucks that we have to travel so far, it is so worth it!

And Rocket, I should have known you’d like that. I do too! That’s why I couldn’t resist blogging it.
