Get more

I have a thing for T-Mobile and it has nothing to do with their service.  As far as I know, their products are not even available in Canada, but when I cross that southern border and my cellular starts to roam, I’m always given an option of piggybacking on a few different networks: AT&T, Cingular, Verizon.  You know, the usual suspects.  I have strong brand loyalty when I make this selection.  I always pick T-Mobile.  Why?  Because as soon as I read the name, I hear Catherine Zeta-Jones tell me "T-Mobile.  Get more."  And I like her.

So, they may not be using her to pimp their goods anymore, but they haven’t exactly disappointed either.  Over the past few months, I’ve been telling anyone who will listen about two of their commercials currently airing.

  • Secret Lovers.  "You don’t give another man’s girl a foot massage and you definitely don’t put her in your five."
  • Wade vs. Barkley.  "You hot right now, but I’m a legend.  I’m an icon.  Everybody knows me."

I’m not a channel flipper.  I really appreciate a good commercial.  These are two of best ones I’ve seen in years.  Ever since Alice Cooper did that one for Staples‘ back to school.  Seriously, check them out.

I used to work for T-Mobile. So did Meghann. That’s how we met. Meghann hates the company, I left before they changed things around at the call center so I still have fond memories of cursing customers and drunken phone calls to customer service late at night. Hmm, that might make a good post some day…

I totally agree with you on the commercials. Awesomely put together. Now if only they could use all of that creativity and channel it into their customer service and overall tower reachability.
Wade and Barkley is my favorite commercial.

I had TMobile for three years, they were awesome, I never needed customer service until I was no longer a customer, and the minute I needed their customer service, they failed me. Big time. I was terribly sad. My contract was canceled and the charged me for another month after my number was ported out. Now they call 3-4 times a day trying to make me pay the bill.

I love the secret lovers commercial. “I should take that”

I also don’t like Catherine Zeta Jones. As for the other two guys, I had no idea who they were (I know charles barkley, but I wouldn’t recognize him) and I still have no idea who the first guy is. i thought they were rappers. . .

The secret lovers commercial is hilarious.

However, a friend of mine had a really horrible experience with them. They were the victim of identity theft because T-Mobile did not shred their documents properly. They dug through T-Mobile trash and got here checking account number and proceeded to attempt to drain it.

Luckily she only lost about $200 (which was reimbursed) but it was a major pain for her for several months. For that reason alone, I will never, ever, consider becoming a T-Mobile customer.

It really was just about the commercials. As far as I’m concerned, every major company has problems in some areas: customer service, coverage, whatever. I’m currently having this debate with a friend over internet providers. As far as I’m concerned, hers is unreliable and slow, she think mine has bad customer service. It’s a trade-off really. But again, I couldn’t care less about T-mobile’s service, I was just talking about the ads.

And Dawn, are you freaking kidding me? Rappers??

  6. dawmarie Says:

What? How was I supposed to know? I don’t follow basketball, never have. . .

  7. Evey Says:

    Rappers…..hehe!!

I love the Secret Lovers commerical as well. It makes me laugh every time!

*sigh* Everybody’s picking on me. *pouts*

Catherine Z-J is super hot, but why did she marry Michael Douglas (25 years her senior?). Her choice in men has something to be desired. But she’s way hot.

I used to have T-mobile, but I had to get rid of them when I moved… I loved thier unlimited minutes for like $45.00 or something I had. Ah, those were the days 🙂
