Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Okay, I can totally cop to being the last person in the universe to discover Snow Patrol.  Frankly, I just don’t listen to the radio all that much and it’s been an increasingly alarming trend that I can’t keep up with (good) new music either.   Yeah, I’d heard of SP, but I guessed it might be the same kind of hype that The Fray or Arctic Monkeys get… publicist driven and completely uninteresting to me.  Turns out SP are great.

Somebody might have warned me after I fell into tears at the freaking dollar store when they played Chasing Cars (the first time I really acknowledged the band and realized that I, in fact, know something of them) that it might not be a good idea for me to pick up their album, Eyes Open.  Why?  Because as much as I love it, as soon as I put it on, the next thing I know there are tears streaming down my cheeks.  There have even been a few sobs let loose.  It is moody and bittersweet, the kind of album that combined with a few pills, some booze and a really rough night could spell big trouble.  I won’t complain though, I’m a sucker for that kind of ambiance.

And since I know that everyone in the free world has already heard it, I’ll just say this: I believe that Hands Open not the greatest song ever written.  Dude, I am seriously digging that track.

I totally love that album. Snow Patrol is fantastic- they do a great cover of Beyonce’s song, hell, that I can’t remember the name of right now… uhm.. Crazy In Love, there we go.

I wouldn’t say that you are the last one in the universe to discover SP. You gave me the album, remember……

Love SP. I haven’t heard the whole album yet, but Chasing Cars is the one song I can hear over and over and never get tired of. I cry too.

If you like “Eyes Open”, RUN and buy “Final Straw” immediately. I think it’s even better.

I like Snow Patrol. But I also like the Fray (since before the radio play, they opened at a concert I went to) Arctic monkeys? Meh, i prefer Franz Ferdinand.

rach gave me some old SP, but i don’t have this one, other than the chasing cars track. now i want it.

Even though they are totally overplayed in Austin (especially when Chasing Cars was releashed), I really like SP too. The song “Run” from their older album is the one that gets me. Put on the acoustic version and even I get a little sideways.

I will say this though, I was completely disappointed in their live performance. The lead singer had his moments of glory, but overall there was zero energy coming from the band. If you get a chance to see them I know you will. Hopefully they’ve gotten better.
