O Canada

When I was in Portland in May, along with Amy and her brother Mike, I came up with this game that is called, well, it doesn’t really have a name, but let’s call it My Canada.  Essentially, it goes like this: they name off famous Canadians and I reply with either My Canada or Not My Canada depending on how much pride I feel in sharing their heritage.  Here are a few of my Canadians:

I refused citizenship to so many people that Mike had to ask me "Exactly how big is your Canada, anyway?"  It’s cozy, okay?  And exclusive.

Wherever you are and wherever you’re from, please raise your glass today in a toast to Canada.

Or, if you’re really ambitious, learn to sing the Canadian anthem, O Canada

    What about…

    William Shatner?
    Jim Carey?
    Neil Peart?

  2. Jason Says:

And how could I forget… Terrence and Phillip?

  3. QueenieCarly Says:

Terrence and Phillip. That’s awesome. My Canada.

Neil Peart and William Shatner could come and go as they please. I don’t feel strongly either way, but Jim Carrey is NOT My Canada. I thought of listing others who don’t fit in here, but it struck me that it was kind of a negative thing to do. And since it’s a day to celebrate, I opted out of that.

    Thanks Jason!

  4. Kensie Says:

    Happy Canada Day!

  5. Susan Says:

Happy Canada Day. Toasting with my coke. 🙂

  6. Rach Says:

How about Justin Morneau? Is he part of your Canada?

    Happy Canada Day!

  7. QueenieCarly Says:

Morneau is IN! I actually thought of him as I started to write that list, but I don’t feel passionately enough about him to include him right off the bat (tee hee!) Since you asked, Rach, yes, there is totally a space for Justin Morneau in my Canada.

Yay to our neighbors to the North! Happy Canada Day!!

I am ashamed to admit I do not know many Canadians…except Mike Meyers, Dave Foley and Celine Dion. Sorry. I need to educate myself. Oh and I knew about Bobby Orr too but only because I’m from Boston and well, the Bruins.

i am hoping that ms. anderson makes the list solely on the merits of her beliefs and affiliations with PETA.

’cause otherwise she’s just a trashy whore.
